First Baptist Church of Springboro is an independent Baptist church that has been serving its community for over two decades. Since its beginning in 1994, First Baptist has desired to show people how they can know God personally, grow in their love for God, and together serve God through various ministries and outreach opportunities.
You will find First Baptist to be very hospitable and extremely welcoming. Our worship services are designed to honor and glorify our Saviour, Jesus Christ, through uplifting music and dynamic preaching from God’s Word in a traditional church atmosphere. Our church is composed of ordinary people who serve an extraordinary God. So no matter who you are, you are welcome to join us as we grow together in Christ.
Pastor Rick Carr was born and raised in a Christian home in the small town of Goshen, Ohio. He was brought up in the First Baptist Church of Milford, Ohio where at age six he received Christ as his personal Saviour. He graduated from Goshen High School at age 17 and enrolled into Hyles-Anderson Bible College in Crown Point, Indiana. His plans were to attend Bible college for one year and then return home, attend the University of Cincinnati and major in Accounting and begin working in his dad’s business. However, during this year in Bible college, he felt the call of God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and on Sunday evening, December 10, 1989, he surrendered to that call. In May of 1994 Pastor Carr graduated from Hyles-Anderson. Through prayer and council, pastor Carr and his wife moved to Miamisburg, Ohio to start the Lighthouse Baptist Church.
He and his wife, Sharon, were high school sweethearts and have been married since 1991. They have three children, Brittany, who recently graduated from West Coast Baptist College, Eric and Dustin who are seniors in high school.
In 2003, the Lord answered a miracle-asking prayer and provided 10 acres to the church along I-75 in Springboro. When they moved to their new location, they changed the name of the church to First Baptist Church of Springboro.
