After graduating from Bible college in May of 1994, Rick and Sharon moved to Dayton Ohio and started Lighthouse Baptist Church. On Sunday, July 17 1994, they held their first service at the Holiday Inn, Dayton Mall, with 24 in attendance.
In 1997, the church purchased their first church building just 3 miles away from the hotel at 201 N 4th St. in downtown Miamisburg. One Sunday night in January of 2003, Pastor Carr mentioned to the church the need to move and build. He shared with the church how he had begun praying and asking the Lord to provide 10 acres of land somewhere along I-75. Since the beginning of the church it had been a vision of his to have a church along the expressway.
In May of 2003 this prayer and vision began to become a reality, and in August of 2003 it was answered and provided by the Lord. God performed a miracle of giving the church 10 acres of land on I-75 in Springboro. During the transition from Miamisburg to Springboro, the church voted to change the name from “Lighthouse Baptist Church” to “First Baptist Church of Springboro.” in 2005, the church held a ground breaking ceremony for a new 15,000 square ft. worship center and in 2006, the building was completed.
First Baptist Church of Springboro has a miraculous history of the working and provision of God, but it also has a bright future! We believe that the same God Who has done the impossible in the past, desires to continue doing the impossible through us as we seek to continue ministering to future generations.
